Tiffany McPherson (Tee Mac) for 2nd Vice President Non-Professional
My name is Tiffany "Tee Mac" McPherson, and I am a U.S. Army Veteran, 2nd Vice President for Non-Professionals of AFGE Local 96, the elected AFGE District 9 National Women's Advisory Coordinator, and the Chair of AFGE Pride.
Every role I have held, from military service to union leadership, has begun the same way: with an oath. An oath to serve, to protect, and to uplift the people alongside me.
My upbringing and service in the military have taught me discipline, integrity, and resilience. It taught me that the strength of any mission lies in the people. Our mission is to ensure safe working conditions, advocate for equal pay, and file charges when the agency violates employees' rights. And that is what drives my work in AFGE.
AFGE is not only about representation inside the four walls of the VA. It is also about making sure we advocate for our members, their families, and their communities, which is why we do our civic duties by writing and speaking to our members of Congress about the issues that have affected our members.
Last but not least! There is false information spreading that "the union is gone." Let me shut that down right now. The union is here. The union is active. the union is representing. Nothing can terminate that responsibility or that power.
This is a crucial time for AFGE Members, some conflicted about whether they should stay in or get out. I am here to advise you to stay in the Union, because trouble does not always. We are fighting by continuing to represent our members.
We will be more visible, more present, and more active than ever before, but that can only be done when a unified team is standing together with the same purpose and focus. Our members.
We are called Groundbreakers...because we want to rebuild what has been breaking apart, we want to restore our members' trust in the Union, we want to eliminate the barriers that have been the stumbling block of our growth. We are digging and pulling out the weeds. We want to plant new seeds within AFGE Local 96, so we can thrive and grow and be stronger than we ever have before, but we need change, and that starts with your vote.
